Composition of Board of Directors

The affair of The West Bengal State Cooperative Bank is managed by a Board of Directors.

The composition of the Board of Directors is as under:

15 (fifteen) Directors elected by the delegates and representatives in a general meeting in the following manner

  1. Central Cooperative Banks Constituency
  2. 10 (ten) Directors from amongst the representatives / delegates of the affiliated Central Cooperative Banks and area of operation three Regions i.e. 24 Parganas North, 24 Parganas South and Coochbehar as prescribed below

    1. 3 (three) Directors from Northern Zone that includes the Districts of Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Uttar Dinajpur, Dakshin Dinajpur, Malda and Coochbehar.
    2. 2 (two) Directors from Central Zone that includes the Districts of Burdwan, Birbhum, Hooghly and Howrah.
    3. 2 (two) Directors from Eastern Zone. Eastern Zone includes the  Districts of Murshidabad, Nadia, 24 Parganas North and  24 Parganas South,
    4. 3 (three) Directors from Western Zone. Western Zone includes the  Districts of Bankura, Purulia, Purba Medinipur and Paschim Medinipur.
  3. Apex Cooperative Societies Constituency
  4. 2 (two) directors from affiliated Apex Cooperative Societies

  5. Employees’ Credit Societies & Urban Cooperative Banks Constituency
  6. 2 (two) Directors from affiliated Employees’ Cooperative Credit Societies and affiliated Urban Cooperative Banks of which one shall be from affiliated Employees’ Cooperative Credit Societies category and one shall be from affiliated Urban Cooperative Banks category.

  7. Other Constituencies
    1. One Director from amongst the affiliated Cooperative Societies not covered by any of the above groups
    2. The State Government and National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development may nominate on the Board one nominee each
    3. The employees of the Bank may elect from amongst themselves one person on the Board
    4. The Chief Executive of the Bank shall be an ex-officio Director of the Board
    5. 3 (three) professionals, having special knowledge or experience in Accountancy ( Qualified Chartered / Cost Accountant ), Agriculture (Agriculture Graduate /  Post-graduate / Agricultural Engineer), Banking (at Senior Management level, being a graduate), Finance / Economics / Commerce / Business Administration (CFA/ Post-graduate in Economics / Commerce / Finance / Management / MBA), Law (Law Graduate / Post-Graduate) or in such other fields, as may be stipulated by the Reserve Bank of India, may be co-opted by the Board of ‘Professional’ directors, to fill in the gap in the number of such qualified directors elected / nominated from different constituencies under the Bank.
